Claudia Du.XZ,
landscapes and portraits under the influence of the mind

Hi, I’m Claudia.

After 7 years of living in rural Mackenzie, I am recently based in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Currently a PG-Dip Fine Art student at the University of Canterbury, I am at an exciting pivot point of further developing my creative practice, embracing change and transitioning into new ideas. I invite you to join my journey.

Unbound by forms but leaving clues for the eyes to create something familiar within the introspection, I enjoy lingering in the liminal space where the tangible intermingles with the abstract. Oil painting and toned graphite drawings are my favourite mediums, through both I aim to create an intimate yet surreal sense of space that is tactile. Playing with cool and warm contrasts that guide the eyes, my sometimes intentionally restricted colours celebrate a visceral sense of connectedness evoking an emotion, a memory, a sense of nostalgia, and a promise of a new beginning.

My work is collected in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and China.
